I am afraid I deleted the answers to your message so I don't know whether more info was posted...

It would be useful to know which version of X you are running, I sugest you post your XF86Config
(resp. XF86Config-4 if you are running X 4.x.x) and your log (/var/log/XFree86.0.log)
I assume you ran Xconfigurator as it is the standard conf. program for that distro.
very likely you have a problem with the refresh or the color depth (I don't know how much video
RAM you have) a possibility to get started is to use the vesa driver in X 4.x.x or the XF86_SVGA
server in X 3.3.6
