Hi,
I've seen quite a number of posts about external display problems recently and
I've been trying to apply the solutions to my system (a Vaio laptop with a
i830 chipset) but had no luck so far.
What I'm trying to do is display to an external monitor at a higher frequency
than 60Hz.
I've tried to force the refresh rate by fixing the value of the VertRefresh
option to 75 but it doesn't change anything.
The X log tells me that it does detect a 1024x768@75Hz mode and it apparently
also tells me that it's using a 85Hz (!) refresh rate, but my external
monitor still tells me 60Hz (and my eyes confirm).

I'm wondering what the source of the problem is: is this a i830-specific
problem (or even a vaio-specific one), a X problem, or is it just me? Any
help would be very much appreciated!
