Can't compile XFree86 CVS

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi folks,

I'm new to the list, so sorry if this has been asked before. I couldn't
find a searchable archive of the list(s) and Google turned up nothing.

Some background on the system - this is a new machine with an Intel 845GBV
board. So, no support for the onboard video in XFree86 4.2. I'm running
Mandrake Linux 9.0 on the box.

I downloaded XFree86 from CVS - a branch from 09162002 I
believe - it was recommended on the
xfree86.org site (some problems with compiling the latest versions in cvs
were mentioned). However, when I try to make World, I get the following:

cc -c -O -I../../include -I../../imports/x11/include/X11 `./ccimake`
imake.c
cc -o imake -O -I../../include -I../../imports/x11/include/X11 imake.o
make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/xc/config/imake'
rm -f ./config/makedepend/Makefile.proto
./config/imake/imake -I./config/cf -s ./config/makedepend/Makefile.proto
-f ./config/makedepend/Imakefile -DTOPDIR=../..
-DCURDIR=./config/makedepend
./config/imake/imake: No such file or directory
./config/imake/imake: Cannot exec /lib/cpp.
  Stop.
./config/imake/imake: Exit code 1.
  Stop.
make[1]: *** [config/makedepend/Makefile.proto] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/xc'
make: *** [World] Error 2

I've read through the docs, and I'm really lost when it comes to
configuring the site and host config files. I'm not sure if the problem is
that I need to make a change to one of those files or if it is something
else.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it! I'd
rather not have to run out and buy a new video card tomorrow.

thanks!
