I was
setting up file permissions on a shared folder ( /usr/Cad ). Was using IceWM at
the time. Everything was fine till i tried to log off.
When i
logged off, the monitor showed vertical rolling scan lines, clicked and did the
same 4 times, after that i was given a command logon prompt.
Since
then if boot up, i get the same 4 clicks from the monitor and end with a command
console.
If i
type startx i get
the 4
clicks with, after each click, a black screen with a few vertically scrolling
horizontal lines. the the following error
Fatal
server error
could
not open default font 'fixed'
XIO
Fatal IO error 104 ( connection reset by pier )
on
boot up, when you get the [ok]'s on the right, the four clicks occur and then
the screen goes back to the initiation settings, but after the four clicks it
shows X Server [ok].
Could
anybody point me in the right direction to solve this
