If you are running Putty from a MSWindows environment, you have to export the display output to your console. This is performed introducing in your .bash_profile a line like export DISPLAY='<ipaddress>' or simply typing it. Then you have to run in your PC a program like Hummingbird Exceed, to import screens. There are other programs that do the same job.
