Thanks, I shall give this a try. At the moment I do not have Video mode selection support and X seems to work but is literally 10000 times slower than I would expect (i.e. it takes about an hour to draw a window). I didn't understand what you meant by "lilo -3 vga=ask". Is there something more I have to do other than rebuild the kernel with the extra options in "make menuconfig"?
