This is on behalf of a friend who is having trouble getting his Diamond Viper Pro PCI card to run under Linux. He's running a fresh install of Mandrake 8.1, it doesn't prompt him as to which version of X to use (I expect it simply went to 3.3.6 since the Weitek chipsets aren't supported in 4.1.0). Even in the shell he is seeing retrace lines and X will not start (it tries, and ctrl-alt-backspace must be used to get back to the shell). He runs a Windows/Linux dual boot and it works fine under Windows. So either it is a software issue or a hardware issue for which Windows finds a work-around. Any assistance would be appreciated.
