Well, most common files play well indeed, but some divx (I belive intervaled ones) have problem. So you can try to download a big divx file (you don't have to download the complete file, mplayer can play incomplete divx files) from somewhere and try it. If you can't find anything I can try to place the file on my http server, but depending if you are behind a firewall maybe you can't acess it (I don't know why, my adsl don't like another adsl users).
