[Newbie]Can't get mouse to work in X

Slackware 3.5 is *really*, *really* old - maybe you should try 8.0 instead, the current stable which comes with XFree 4.1.0 and 4.2.0 packages in the current branch on ftp servs. PS/2 should be supported by older distros ok, but still I' upgrade.
