But I won't stop proposing usage of PEAR packages. :-)

I bet you will. Nobody said that was a bad thing. The only problem is when you disregard the original poster problems and propose packages that do not solve the user problems at all. Maybe if you stop being so obcessed by posting competitive messages to the ones I write (especially those that propose packages that I wrote but are not available in PEAR), you will probably be able to figure when to post or not post followup messages to mine. Remember, cooperating is better than competing!

The PEAR Mail package did solve the problem. It supports authentication and changing of the server to send to. I don't post simply to be in

That was not what the original poster requested. He did not want to relay the messages in an intermediate server. We wanted direct delivery. Sure you can set the end destination server with the PEAR Mail package but you first you need to figure its address from the DNS server and PEAR Mail alone can't do that, unlike the SMTP class that I proposed that comes with explicit support for direct delivery since a long time ago.

opposition, I post to give an alternative so that users know that there are multiple things out there.

That's bull...! You systematically post as a reactions to my posts when I suggest a package available in the PHP Classes site. You really do not seem very concerned with the original poster problems as it was clearly evident in this thread. You seem to be only obcessed with posting competitive messages whenever a solution available in the PHP Classes site is mentioned.

The funny part is that if I was so obcessed with pushing any kind of competition between the two sites, I would have to say thank you for advertising the PHP Classes site. :-)

Now more and more people that probably did not know it are aware that it exists and some obcessed people are concerned with some kind of threat that seem to assume when you rush to post about PEAR based alternatives to the PHP Classes site.
