Yes, it's a good idea to start with a clean wineprefix. However, if you mean it crashes when you try to run it from a terminal but not when you click the exe, you're doing something wrong at the command line. Have you changed to the program directory before trying to run it?

As for the webcam, it didn't work for me, either, and I wouldn't expect it to. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16147
