> ok , thanks, but my dir is called applications-merged. there are 2.menu files in there from 2 programs i have just installed. the previous 3 that i deleted from the menu are gone, but the programs remain. i guess i should just re-install them again to get them back in the menu? You could just add them to your menu yourself through your menu editor. (If you don't know how to do that, ask your distro.)
