Thanks dimesio! Extracting the deb file (http://mirror.yandex.ru/debian/pool/main/libx/libxi/libxi6_1.6.1-1_i386.deb) and copying the contents of the libxi6_1.6.1-1_i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu directory to /usr/lib32 solved my problem - including the cursor problem! (I phrased it long like this just in case someone else has this problem and wants the solution.)
