Yikes! Reinstalling the OS to make wine work? Definitely should not be required under any circumstances. What OS did you install? Does it come with its own Wine? Did you uninstall it first? Did you use ./tools/wineinstall to do the initial wine compile and configuration (I assume you are using the CVS Wine)?
