8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8 From: "Poland, Michael P" <mpoland@xxxxxxxx> Dear Colleagues, Are you enthusiastic about deformation and gravity change at volcanoes, and also planning to attend IAVCEI 2025 in Geneva? Then you're in luck! We're pleased to announce a session focused on volcano geodesy! Theme 2: Pre- and syn-eruptive monitoring Session: *Movin' on up: Volcano geodesy applications and advances* Volcano geodesy, which includes both surface deformation and gravity change, provides information on the location of subsurface fluid storage and transport, as well as changes in the volume and mass of those fluids. Geodetic data contribute directly to knowledge of the structure of magmatic and hydrothermal systems and their potential for hazardous activity in both subaerial and submarine environments. This session will focus on the use of geodesy, including in combination with other methods, to investigate quiescent, restless, and erupting volcanoes and hydrothermal systems; magma-tectonic interactions; advances in geodetic instrumentation and measurements; and methods for exploiting the current and soon-to-be-available quantities of data. Abstract deadline is January 10. Hope to see you on the east side (er, we mean Geneva) in June! Sincerely, The Session convenors (Alessandro Bonforte, Matthew Head, Elske de Zeeuw-van Dalfsen, Edna Dualeh, and Mike Poland) 8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8 ------------------------------
