7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7 From: Alexandra Kushnir <alexandra.kushnir@xxxxxxx> Dear colleagues, We would like to invite submissions to the *Hydrothermal Alteration in Volcanic Systems* session at the upcoming IAVCEI Scientific Assembly, taking place 29 June to 4 July 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. *Description: *Volcanic hydrothermal systems are a playground for complex fluid-rock interactions, resulting in alteration that can significantly influence the evolution of these systems over time. Indeed, hydrothermal systems play a critical role in volcanic hazards: alteration can reduce the strength of edifice-forming rocks, contributing to volcano spreading and flank collapse and the high pore pressures that develop within hydrothermal systems can promote phreatic/phreatomagmatic explosions. However, hydrothermal systems can also be economically critical: they are often harnessed to produce energy and can be home to minerals of economic interest. We invite diverse contributions dedicated to the characterisation, imaging, monitoring, and hazard/economic assessment of volcanic hydrothermal systems and associated fluid-rock interactions.
