8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8 From: Farquharson James Ian <jfarquharson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Dear volcanology community, Abstract submission is open for the IAVCEI 2025 Scientific Assembly, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland between 29 June and 4 July 2025: https://on-line-form.eu/iavcei2025sa/abstracts/index.php <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://on-line-form.eu/iavcei2025sa/abstracts/index.php__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!bSA86kKZ9BZ775cKEqhi86dN0Vc4IOZnT0wusGEk4SIEy5bcULZMOCZkkSCu3oiqE2zhu27fKJNnRS5c07NCNuWcCw$> We invite submissions to our session, "Open volcanology: open science initiatives for sharing and dissemination of data, tools, and research products." The volcanology community has been making strides towards making science more â??openâ??, driven both by individual- or community-led initiatives and as a function of broader-scale regulatory changes. Open science is a paradigm within which scientific research, data, and results are made transparent and accessible for scientists and the broader community. Open access, open data, and open source (software) are all facets of open science, enabling researchers to share scientific knowledge and promote the principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIR). We invite submissions that highlight and celebrate open science initiatives, including open data sharing, collaborative research using open data, open-source tools, and open access publishing. This session can also act as a forum to gain insights into best practice, and directions for open science initiatives in the future. We invite contributions from researchers, publishers, developers, monitoring agencies, and others working towards openness in volcanology. We already have some fantastic talks lined up about open software initiatives and open volcanology databases! Abstract submission closes on 20 December 2024. We look forward to seeing many of you there in Geneva next year. Yours sincerely, Jamie Farquharson (Niigata University, Japan), on behalf of the conveners, Einat Lev (Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University, US); Elisa Trasatti (INGV, Italy); Marie Edmonds (University of Cambridge, UK) 8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8 ------------------------------
