The volcanology community has been making strides towards making science more â??openâ??, driven both by individual- or community-led initiatives and as a function of broader-scale regulatory changes. Open science is a paradigm within which scientific research, data, and results are made transparent and accessible for scientists and the broader community. Open access, open data, and open source (software) are all facets of open science, enabling researchers to share scientific knowledge and promote the principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIR). We invite submissions that highlight and celebrate open science initiatives, including open data sharing, collaborative research using open data, open-source tools, and open access publishing. This session can also act as a forum to gain insights into best practice, and directions for open science initiatives in the future. We invite contributions from researchers, publishers, developers, monitoring agencies, and others working towards openness in volcanology. Abstract submission closes on 20 December 2024.
