4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4 From: Anna Perttu <A.Perttu@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Dear Colleagues, If you have an abstract for AGU that is part of an international collaboration and canâ??t seem to find a session for it, please consider submitting to our session: SY016. Celebrating 150 years of international science collaboration: marking the 1874 efforts to observe the Transit of Venus and the development of global science. Session description: This session will explore the role and history of international science collaborations over the past 150 years and the development of global science programs. 2024 marks 150 years since the great international astronomic collaboration to observe the 1874 Transit of Venus, an event so rare that many nations worldwide combined their efforts to document it with state-of-the-art 19th-century science and technology, bringing scientists from many countries together for the first time. In 1874 expeditions from several European nations and the United States were dispatched across the globe to maximise their chances of measuring the transit from at least two distant locations. The scientific partnerships developed by the expeditionary members and their hosts have continued through to the present. For this session, we welcome abstracts on both the history of international scientific collaborations, as well as the resulting research from past and present collaborations.
