Hi all,

Daniel Weidendorfer and I are recruiting for 2 fully funded PhD positions
in (1) experimental petrology/geochemistry and (2) experimental
volcanology/fluid-rock interaction under early Earth conditions. Both
positions are located at LMU Munich, Germany, and are part of a large
collaborative research grant (CRC392). See additional details below. The
desired start date is Summer to early Fall 2024. Review of applications
will start March 25 until the position is filled. Please forward this to
anyone you know who might be interested. If you have questions, please
donâ??t hesitate to reach out.

 Thanks!
Betty & Daniel

The Geochemistry and Volcanology groups at LMU Munich specialize in igneous
processes operating across the Earth lithosphere. *The Geochemistry group* has
a strong background in the formation of CO2-rich magmatism, chemical melt
differentiation and magma-rock interaction, which are investigated through
high-pressure / high-temperature experimentation and computational
petrology. *The Volcanology group* focusses on low- to high silica magma
evolution and eruption styles, melt, magma as well as rock
characterization, fluid-rock interaction and the effect of alteration in
hydrothermal systems on petrophysical properties. Investigations comprise
low- to high-pressure and temperature experiments, analytical and textural
characterization as well as theoretical modelling.

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at LMU Munich invites
applications for *two fully funded PhD positions* within the framework of
the Collaborative Research Center (*CRC 392*) entitled â??*Molecular
Evolution in Prebiotic Environments*â??. We seek for candidates who like to
work in an interdisciplinary environment and look forward to linking
geoscience to chemistry and biophysics.

*PhD position (1) in Experimental Geochemistry/Petrology *is supervised by
Prof. Daniel Weidendorfer* (*d.weidendorfer@xxxxxx) and focuses on prebiotic
element enrichment in subvolcanic settings where active magmatism provides
elements prominent for the emergence of life.

.

*PhD position (2) in Experimental Volcanology/Fluid-Rock-Interaction *is
supervised by Prof. Bettina Scheu (b.scheu@xxxxxx) and explores shallow
geothermal environments driven by magmatic / volcanic activity on their
potential to act as physical-chemical factories where prebiotic reactions
are catalyzed by glass /mineral - fluid reactions.
