Dear Colleagues

In the framework of the GEO-Inquire
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.geo-inquire.eu/__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!a3KaQBNcHGbT-zZ3uUFrQalSciyYxdTl8Zm8nAPa1t0WDnritVwroj-jY2nT-GdpSKTihcOOb2uUlcc08GCHkUoUNw$>
EU
project, a call is open to participate in *Transnational Accesses*: they
provide subsidence and travel cost to perform research at selected
facilities in Europe. INGV Pisa and INGV Bologna are providing access to
modeling resources targeted at volcanic systems.

At *INGV in Pisa*, you can access *OpenFOAM*-based solvers and libraries
for volcanological applications:
- OpenPDAC for compressible, turbulent volcanic gas-particle mixtures, to
simulate explosive volcanic eruptions over complex 3D topographies;
- ASHEE to simulate the non-equilibrium dynamics of polydisperse
gas-particle mixtures forming volcanic plumes;
- MagmaFOAM, a modular framework for the simulation of magmatic systems,
incorporating models for solving e.g. subsurface magma mingling dynamics,
slug ascent and bubble growth in magmas.
TAs can also be focused on new application development, or for porting new
fluid-dynamic applications and testing models on HPC infrastructures at
INGV.

At* INGV in Bologna*, you can access a workflow to perform long- and
short-term *probabilistic volcanic hazard assessment* for tephra fallout at
ground and ash concentration at flight levels for a specific volcano,
possibly at high resolution (2km x 2km) and on large-scale domain (2000 km
x 2000 km). The workflow integrates the Fall3D open-source computational
engine and several pre- post-processing and data analysis routines (e.g.,
ERA5) to generate hazard curves with epistemic uncertainty related to the
tephra fallout generated by volcanic explosive activity (accumulated on the
ground or airborne ash concentration).

Anyone interested is strongly encouraged to contact us before applying. The
application forms can be found on the GEO-Inquire website:
