Colleagues:

The Marine Geology and Geophysics Program (MGG) within the Division of
Ocean Sciences (OCE) in the Directorate of Geosciences (GEO) announces a
nationwide search for a Program Director (Rotator) with experience and
expertise in marine geology preferably focusing on igneous petrology or
geochemistry or in plate tectonics, submarine volcanology and hydrothermal
processes.

The Marine Geology and Geophysics Program supports research on all aspects
of the geology and geophysics of the present ocean basins and margins, as
well as those of the Great Lakes. The Program Director's core duties and
responsibilities will be administering the merit review process, proposal

and other Federal agencies and organizations.

NSF Program Directors bear the primary responsibility for carrying out the

activities in basic research and education that contribute to the nation's
technical strength, security, and welfare. This responsibility requires the
appropriate scientific expertise and breadth of knowledge as well as a
commitment to high standards, receptivity to new ideas, and a high degree
of personal integrity.
