In the framework of the Program of Predoctoral Training Contracts of the
Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, we offer a predoctoral
contract linked to the research project IMAGMASEIS "Imaging the magma
plumbing system of Cumbre Vieja volcano using passive seismic methods"
(reference PID2021-124381NB-C21).

The contract covers four years and is linked to the completion of a PhD
thesis. The contracted fellow will carry out analyses of seismic data
obtained during the Cumbre Vieja eruption of La Palma, Canary Islands,
in 2021, as well as the additional data that will be gathered during the
project through different experiments and field surveys. The work
consist of the analysis of the passive seismic records obtained during
and after the eruption, and the elaboration and interpretation of the
results within the framework of current investigations. The objective is
to contribute to the knowledge of the structure and dynamics of the
magma plumbing system that produced the eruption.

In addition to the University of Granada, both national and
international institutions participate in the project. At a national
level we highlight the participation of the Spanish Instituto Geográfico
Nacional and the collaboration with the Instituto Volcanológico de
Canarias. At an international level we can mention the participation of
the GFZ (Germany), which also contributes with instrumentation for
carrying out large-N experiments, the IGG-CAS (China), DIAS (Ireland),
the University of Udine (Italy), the University of Río Negro (Argentina)
and the University of Costa Rica.

Applicants should have a background in Geophysics / Earth Sciences,
ideally with computational skills and experience in seismic data
processing. Additionally, the successful candidate must be enrolled or
able to enroll in a PhD program in Spain when the contract is
formalized. The evaluation criteria include the academic and/or
scientific trajectory of the candidates, and the adequacy of the CV in
regards to the planned research activities. Applications can be
submitted from January 12 to 26, 2023 at 14:00 (Spanish Peninsular time).
