Dear colleagues,

We are excited to invite you to submit an abstract to a special GSA session
honoring Dr. Hannah Dietterich (USGS), this yearâ??s recipient of the Early
Career Award from the Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Petrology, and Volcanology
Section of GSA. The session, titled "*Lava flows and their hazardsâ??* will
showcase the state of the art in lava flow research. We hope to attract
contributions from field studies, modeling, remote sensing, and laboratory
approaches, to reflect the interdisciplinary nature of lava flow science.
Contributions from early career scientists are particularly encouraged. Our
two invited speakers are Arianna Soldati (North Carolina State University)
and Lis Gallant (USGS HVO).

Abstract submission deadline is July 19th, 2022. Meeting dates are October
9-12, in Denver, CO. GSA will be a hybrid meeting (in-person and online).

Kindly,
Your session organizers
Mark Stelten, Einat Lev, Kathy Cashman, and Tom Sisson
