Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to a special issue in Remote Sensing
(MDPI, Impact Factor 4.5) on *â??Contemporary Remote Sensing of Volcanic
Activityâ??*, guest edited by Dr Charley Hill-Butler and Dr Matthew Blackett:

*The last decade has witnessed a proliferation of space and airborne remote
sensors with the capability of monitoring volcanic processes. Indeed, the
field of volcanic remote sensing has gone from strength to strength in
recent years, despite the fact that no sensor has even been launched with
the sole purpose of making volcanic observations. The new generations of
sensors, no longer solely administered by a select few agencies, are
providing a wealth of data at the highest ever temporal, spatial, and
radiometric resolutions. These developments provide the opportunity for
making volcanic observations in unprecedented detail and, as such, are
likely to lead to new insights into terrestrial volcanism.*

*This Special Issue aims to capture and consolidate these new insights,
thereby furthering the field of volcanic remote sensing and ensuring that
it remains a priority area of remote sensing for decades to come.*

*We seek articles that utilise some of the newest sensors available for
volcanic process monitoring, including those that monitor thermal
emissions, gas/ash plumes, and/or surface deformation, and from sensors
based remotely in space or in the air. We are also interested in new or
improved algorithms or techniques for processing such data.*

We hereby invite submissions to the Special Issue of Remote Sensing. If you
would like to discuss potential submissions, please get in contact with
Charley (ab1990@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) or Matt (aa8533@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) in the
first instance. The submission deadline for the special issue is 31st October
2021, more information can be found here

Best wishes,

Dr Charley Hill-Butler (and, on behalf of co-editor, Dr Matthew Blackett)
