Dear Colleagues,

I am currently recruiting graduate students (PhD and MS to PhD) to join my
group at Vanderbilt University and study submarine volcanism.

My research uses geological fluid mechanics to address problems in volcanology,
flow through porous materials, and other earth surface processes. Laboratory
experiments and field observations are key components of this work. Past
and current projects focus on the mechanics of pyroclastic density currents
and submarine volcanic eruptions.

Located in Nashville, Tennessee, the Vanderbilt EES Department emphasizes
collaboration between students and faculty and values diversity and
inclusion. Areas of research emphasis in the department include magmatic and
volcanic processes, transport phenomena, paleoecology and paleoclimatology,
and geochemical processes. Graduate students in the department are
supported with health benefits, tuition support, and 12-month stipends. Please
see *https://www.vanderbilt.edu/ees/graduate.php
<https://www.vanderbilt.edu/ees/graduate.php>* for more information on graduate
studies in EES at Vanderbilt University.

Please check out my website
<https://www.vanderbilt.edu/ees/people/faculty/KristenFauria.php> and email
me for more information and to discuss graduate student opportunities!
Applications will be due January 2021 and do not require the GRE.

Thanks,

Kristen Fauria
