Hydrothermal convection controls the cooling of magma, and conversely magma drives hydrothermal convection, influencing the sustainability of geothermal power production. Topics of papers range from surface manifestations in phreatomagmatic explosions and geyser phenomena to the fossil record of magma-hydrothermal-ore systems and the quenching and sampling of magma at depth by drilling.
