Dear all,

If you are interested in deep volatile cycling, please consider submitting
an abstract to the following session at AGU 2020. The deadline for abstract
submission is July 29th.

Session Title:
V004. Deep volatile cycling: evolution of the solid Earth and atmosphere
*Invited Speakers: *
Rita Parai (Washington University in St. Louis) and Jaime Barnes
(University of Texas at Austin)
Session Description:
Volatiles have cycled between the surface and deeper reservoirs throughout
Earthâ??s history by ingassing and outgassing in subduction zones, mid-ocean
ridges and plume settings. The transfer of volatiles in and out of the
solid Earth has modulated its physical properties, chemical
differentiation, and the formation of an atmosphere over geological times.
This session seeks to integrate multiple disciplines that aim at
understanding the dynamic exchanges of the volatile species in and out of
the solid Earth, and their implications for the evolution of our planet,
including how subduction zones have regulated volatile cycling over time.
We welcome studies on traditional and non-traditional stable isotopes,
petrology and geochemistry of magmatic and metamorphic rocks, experimental
and micro-analytical approaches, and geophysical studies aimed at better
understanding the transport of volatiles in and out of the solid Earth, and
their influence on long-term evolution of the atmosphere, amongst other
aspects of deep volatile cycling.
*Conveners: *
Ananya Mallik; Julia Ribeiro; Bernard Marty; Emily Cooperdock
Primary Section/Focus Group:
Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology
