2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 From: Kristen Fauria <kristen.fauria@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Dear colleagues, We welcome abstracts to the following AGU Fall meeting (Dec 7-11, 2020) session. *V020** - Submarine volcanism: waterâ??s influence on volcanic processes* Submarine volcanoes occur in a range of tectonic settings including at arcs, mid-ocean ridges, and within oceanic plates. Water has fundamental effects on subaqueous eruption style and explosivity that are only partially understood. Additionally, subaqueous eruptionsâ?? influences on biological and physical oceanographic systems are not well characterized but may be globally significant. Despite a consensus that subaqueous eruptions dominate Earth's annual volcanic output, few submarine volcanoes have been studied and thus each new observation can increase our understanding. In this session, we aim to bring together studies on submarine to emergent volcanism from observational, experimental, and theoretical perspectives. We welcome contributions that present observations from both modern volcanic systems and ancient successions, explore the generation and dispersal of submarine eruption products, probe eruption dynamics in these and analog subaqueous environments (e.g., subglacial, lacustrine), examine how volcanism affects other ocean systems, or present techniques for identifying and monitoring submarine eruptions. https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm20/prelim.cgi/Session/105101 We are excited to announce invited speakers *Isobel Yeo* (National Oceanography Centre Southampton) and *Nathalie Feuillet* (Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris). The deadline for all submissions is *Wednesday, 29 July at 23:59 EDT.* We hope to see you virtually at AGU where are excited to meet and learn from diverse researchers around the world.
