A biography written about Katia and Maurice Krafft in 2000 is out of print but for a few used copies. With the permission of the Johnston family and input from close friends comes the biography of David A. Johnston, who died in the May 18, 1980, eruption of Mount St. Helens. Before David died, he lived; before he was a scientist, he was a son, a brother, a friend. Vicki McConnell, former State Geologist of Oregon, who gave her endorsement, remarked that the book was like building a man and a volcano at the same time.
