Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to submit your work to our session *"Myths,
Legends and Volcanism"*, which is session *4H* in the 1st conference of the
Latin American Association of Volcanology (ALVO). The conference will take
place in Antofagasta, Chile, between 3-7 November 2019.

We invite collaborations from all the people attracted by volcanoes´
cultural value and significance for our ancestors and the current citizens
living together with them.

*Session Description:*
Myths, legends allowed our ancestors to explain and justify all of the
phenomena related to volcanoes. Thanks to these popular histories and the
current research, the vulcanologist have extra data to reconstruct the
history of the volcanoes. The legends can or cannot be close to the
reality, however, they represent unique treasures that are part of our
culture. This session call for researchers to compile and present legends
and myths from Latin American volcanos.

The *Deadline* for abstract submission is *3 May 2019*.
The official language of the meeting will be Spanish. For further details,

                                      Nos complace invitarlos a enviar su
trabajo a nuestra sesión "Mitos, leyendas y volcanismo", que es la sesión
4H en la 1ra conferencia de la Asociación Latinoamericana de Vulcanología
(ALVO). La conferencia tendrá lugar en Antofagasta, Chile, entre el 3 y el
7 de noviembre de 2019. Invitamos a colaborar a todas las personas atraídas
por el valor cultural y la importancia de los volcanes para nuestros
antepasados y los ciudadanos que actualmente conviven con ellos.

Descripción de la sesión:

Los mitos y leyendas permitieron a nuestros antepasados explicar y
justificar todos los fenómenos relacionados con los volcanes. Gracias a
estas historias populares y la investigación actual quienes estudiamos a
los volcanes podemos contar con datos adicionales para reconstruir la
historia de los volcanes. Las leyendas pueden o no estar cerca de la
realidad, sin embargo, representan tesoros únicos que forman parte de
nuestra cultura. Esta sesión requiere que los investigadores compilen y
presenten leyendas y mitos de los volcanes de América Latina.

La fecha límite para la presentación de resúmenes es el 3 de mayo de 2019. El
idioma oficial de la reunión será el español. Para más detalles, visite el
