*Applications are invited* for Ad Astra Fellows in UCD School of Earth
Sciences (post reference: 011321). The Ad Astra Fellowship scheme is a new
academic recruitment initiative at University College Dublin, Ireland,
under which approximately 65 appointments will be made at
Lecturer/Assistant Professor grade each year for the next five years. The
scheme is an open competition and is targeted at high-potential,
early-stage academics.

UCD School of Earth Sciences welcomes applications to the Ad Astra scheme
from individuals working in any area of Earth Sciences, and especially from
genders under-represented amongst Faculty. In particular, we seek
applications from early-stage academics in research areas with significant
growth potential. These research areas may be linked to, but are not
limited to, those of the Irish Research Center in Applied Geosciences (iCRAG
<http://www.icrag-centre.org/>), or may they may represent thematic areas
such as remote sensing and data mining in Earth Sciences.

The School provides a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology, in addition to other
taught modules across Earth Science, Environmental Science and
Sustainability. We contribute to MSc degrees in Environmental Science,
Environmental Sustainability and Energy Systems. A new MSc in Subsurface
Characterisation and Geomodelling will be introduced in 2020. An ability
and willingness to contribute significantly to these and future programmes,
and to supervise MSc and PhD research, is expected.
