Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to our Goldschmidt (18-23 August,
2019, Barcelona) session on "Mantle2Crust: Basalt Genesis, Transport and
Differentiation":

Oceanic magmatism is a fundamental source of information on the Earth
interior. Lava effusion at mid ocean ridges and oceanic islands settings is
the final result of several polybaric processes including mantle partial
melting in depth, melt differentiation and migration though mantle and
crust, and shallow extraction. Basalts chemistry only partially reflects
the chemical and physical characteristics of the mantle sources because it
is subsequently affected by magma aggregation, differentiation and
melt-rock reaction processes acting during melt ascent. Understanding the
contribution of all these processes is the key to gather the message
brought up by the basalts. The session intends to merge the knowledge
coming from different scientific approaches to stimulate the discussion
among scientists working on the different stages of basalt production.
Submission of contributions from experimental works, geochemical and
geophysical numerical models and studies on natural samples (both mantle
sources and basalts) are warmly invited.

The keynote speaker for the session is Andreas Stracke (Münster
University).
We also have two invited speakers: Ananya Mallik (University of Rhode
Island) and Lynne Elkins (University of Nebraska-Lincoln).

Information about abstract submission can be found at
https://goldschmidt.info/2019/abstracts/instructions and the abstract
deadline is *March 29*, *2019*.

Best regards,

The conveners,
Giulio Borghini, (University of Milano, Italy)
Sarah Lambart (University of Utah, USA)
