The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva invites applications for:
ASSISTANT (tenure track) or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR position
at the Department of Earth Sciences
in the domain of Mineral Resources
JOB DESCRIPTION: Applicants are expected to lead a diversified research and teaching program in the field of mineral resources. The successful candidate will implement an ambitious research program addressing the fundamental physical and chemical processes involved in ore forming systems in the Earth’s crust, combining cutting edge analytical methods with field-based projects, ideally in collaboration with the mining industry. The research projects should also aim at developing novel concepts and tools in economic geology, applicable to regional scale fertility evaluation projects, footprint identification of ore-forming systems, and mineral and geochemical vectoring at the mining district scale. Ultimately, the research goals should be driven by the challenge of securing sustainable raw material supply to our society and future generations.
The successful candidate will join a very active Department with a long tradition of research in Economic Geology. The position offers the opportunity to interact with internationally recognized research groups with a diversity of interests in Earth Sciences. ASSIGNMENT: Full-time appointment including teaching and supervision of research projects at the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels in the domain of Mineral Resources. The successful candidate is expected to raise external research funding.
ACADEMIC TITLE REQUESTED: Ph.D. or equivalent. Experience in research supervision and teaching experience according appointment level. The applicants will be able to demonstrate their outstanding research qualifications based on a strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals.
STARTING DATE: 01.02.2019, or upon mutual agreement.
