Dear Colleagues,

the European Seismological Commission 36th Assembly (ESC2018 - 2nd to the 7th September 2018 in La Valletta, Malta) presents a unique session focusing on “Advances in Volcano Seismology”

http://www.escmalta2018.eu/page/Sessions_n#S11

This session is a single ESC2018 hub for all volcano-related seismic studies and a unique opportunity to present in a session exclusively devoted to highlight the advances seismology has brought to the understanding of volcanism. Its central aim is to explore the role of seismology in a wider volcanological context. More specifically we want:

• to discuss major advances in instrument and network design leading to improvements in both spatial coverage and temporal resolution of seismic observations;
• to explore the seismological insight in the internal structure and physical processes of volcanic systems through new processing tools, physical models and interpretations of volcanic seismic data;
• to exhibit the variety of seismic sources a volcano can have, revealing differences and similarities to tectonic seismic sources.

See you in Malta in September,

Luca De Siena, University of Aberdeen, UK, lucadesiena@xxxxxxxxxx
Jürgen Neuberg, University of Leeds, UK, J.Neuberg@xxxxxxxxxxx
