Dear all,
I would like to inform you about the *Third international training school
on Convective and volcanic clouds detection, monitoring and modeling* that
will take place in *Tarquinia (Italy)* in *October 2017*.
The purpose of the school is to train students with outstanding research
interest in the techniques allowing to detect, monitor and model convective
and volcanic clouds, to gain knowledge of the instruments and satellite
missions (present and future) and to be able to support such kind of
studies. The school topics will range from satellite instruments such as IR
sensors or GPS radio occultations to aircraft measuremtents like lidar and
radar, from study of ash and SO2 clouds to tropical cyclones, mediterranean
hurricanes, land and maritime convection for supporting policy makers,
early warning systems and aviation safety.
After the success of the previous two editions, the number of organizing
institutes is increased and this training school is organized by
researchers of the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate, National
Research Council (ISAC-CNR), Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia
(INGV), the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU), the Abdus Salam
International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the UK MetOffice, the
Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BIRA-IASB), the University of
Oxford, the University of Trieste and the University of Sofia.
