The COSIV (Commission on Statistics in Volcanology) are running a workshop on volcanic record completeness the day before the IAVCEI meeting in Portland (Sunday 13 August): http://iavcei2017.
We now have a great line-up of speakers confirmed: Britt Hill, Chris Newhall, Ed Venzke, Sarah Ogburn, Jonty Rougier, Koji Kiyosugi, Stuart Mead, Mark Bebbington, Sue Loughlin, Tom Sheldrake and Ting Wang, and are aiming for lots of discussion around the main themes of completeness and how it impacts upon hazard estimation, as well as agreeing on future research directions in this space.
Registration costs are $80 but the Earth Observatory of Singapore will fund a small number of early career researchers (loosely defined as PhD students or those within 5 years of completion) to attend the workshop.
