UNIVERSIDAD MAYOR

School of Geology

Call for 3 positions

 Research-Teaching at the Geoscience Disciplinary Core

 

The School of Geology of Universidad Mayor-Chile, belonging to the Science Faculty, opens an application call for providing three full-time positions for research-teaching that will be part of the Geoscience Disciplinary Core.

The Universidad Mayor is one of the most important private universities in Chile, with more than 20 years forming professionals and generating scientific and technical knowledge in different areas. The School of Geology, based in Santiago, has recently created a Geoscience Disciplinary Core that will be focused in developing research in the areas of Geologic Hazards, Environment, Contamination and Climate Change.

 

Candidates profile:

·        PhD in one of the following areas: Geologic Hazards (preference in landslides), Environmental Geology, Climate Change, Hydrogeology, Soil/Aquifer Contamination, or related area.

·        Proven experience in generating, leading and/or participating in research projects

·        Proven scientific productivity

·        Teaching experience in undergraduate and/or postgraduate level

 

Researchers responsibilities

The researchers will have the responsibility of leading research projects in the areas of geologic hazards, hydrogeology, contamination, environment and/or climate change. They will have teaching responsibilities at undergrad and postgrad levels. Researchers will generate research projects and collaborative research and teaching programs with national and international institutions, as well as guiding undergrad and postgrad theses.

 

Starting date: April 2017

 

Information required:

·        PhD in geology in one of the areas mentioned above

·        Updated Curriculum Vitae

·        Application letter indicating previous experience in research and teaching

·        Brief research plan (max. 2 pages) indicating research interest areas and plan to develop it (collaboration, funds, timing, etc…)

·        Two reference letters

Preselection of candidates will be informed by march 20th 2017.  Preselected candidates will need to present a talk (related to their research areas) to the Selection Committee during the week of March 27th2017.
