Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the opening of the abstract submission site for the 2017 IAVCEI Scientific Assembly (http://iavcei2017.org/), which will be held in Portland, Oregon, during August 14-18. The theme of the assembly is "Fostering Integrative Studies of Volcanism." A broad range of sessions have been organized, falling under the general categories of:
I. Magmatism and tectonism
II. Using geophysics and geochemistry to probe magmatism and eruption processes
III. From precursors to eruption
IV. Volatile influences on eruption style, degassing, atmospheric chemistry and climate
V. Evaluating volcanic hazards
VI. Volcanoes, energy and resources
VII. Volcanoes and human societies
VIII. Future thinking - what's on the horizon that could be a game-changer?
