Dear all,
The UK Alliance for Disaster Research was founded in the UK in April 2016, to help the UK disaster research community to facilitate the government’s contribution to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction from 2015-2030. We are now reaching out to the disaster research community for new members. Please do join us if you are based in the UK and interested in disaster research.
What is UKADR?
The UK Alliance for Disaster Research (UKADR) is a free-to-join member organisation and seeks to represent the UK disaster science community to government in meeting its contributions to the Sendai Framework 2015-30. It is interdisciplinary and welcomes members from all science traditions and any research institution in the UK. This is reflected in the make-up of UKADR founding members who include the British Geological Survey, Durham University, King’s College London, Northumbria University, the Overseas Development Institute, Public Health England, University College London, University of Bristol and University of Edinburgh.
Why have I not heard of UKADR?
UKADR was founded in 2016. We have only now begun to reach out to the wide UK research community so please do join us. The UKADR first public event was as part of a University College London conference. The second event will be the UKADR Annual Conference hosted by King’s College London 9-10 January.
How can I get involved?
Please join the membership lists at http://www.ukadr.org/
January 9th-10th 2017 is the UKADR First Annual Conference, at King’s College London. This is an opportunity to share your research and research impact experiences, and to get involved with the management of UKADR if you wish. Please submit paper, poster or session ideas by 10 December to http://www.ukadr.org/confer
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Best wishes,
Amy
