Presented by the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC) at the University of Hawai'i.
We are offering a 1.5-day short course entitled 'Volcano Crises' in San Francisco on December 19-20, immediately following Fall AGU. This delivery is a FEMA-certified course, sponsored by the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center at University of Hawaii. The scope is to characterize all aspects of volcanic crises. It was developed in 2012 by NDPTC and the Volcano Hazards Program of U.S.G.S., initially for emergency managers, and response officials. The structure is basically 6 one-hour modules followed by a 4-hour desktop scenario, based on a future eruption of Mauna Loa volcano. In the scenario the participants are divided into groups playing different decision-making or decision–implementing roles, i.e., the eruption course is set-in-stone but the human consequences are decided by the participants' actions.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
