Dear colleagues,

We would like to encourage you to submit an abstract to our session 'State of the art in monitoring volcanic activities' to be held in Singapore for AOGS 2015 (2-7 August 2015). Abstract submission is 18th of February 2014.

"Since the first volcano observatory was built more than 100 years ago, we have accumulated a wealth of data of all kinds. Such abundance of data is a new exciting challenge because now, we can’t hide behind one kind of measurement, and we need to reconcile multiple datasets.
How deformation and seismicity can be reconciled while, apparently, exhibiting different behavior? How remote sensing can help to identify deep processes? How physical models can drive the design of monitoring network, and support the interpretation of volcanic processes? Are we ready to run simple physical models in real-time during unrest and ongoing activity as a new monitoring tool?
The session aims to combine contributions from, purely observational, to purely theoretical, and the mixing trend between the two. Since beauty lies in simplicity, we invite contributions that favor simple physical models that can explain multiple datasets recorded at active volcanoes around the world."

The conveners: B. Taisne, C. Caudron, Y. Aoki, H. Kumagai, W. Sevilla
