Postdoctoral and Graduate Positions in Geochemistry (Canada)
From: Diane Hanano <dhanano@xxxxxxxxxx>Postdoctoral and Graduate Positions in Geochemistry (Canada)
Postdoctoral and Graduate Opportunities with the Multidisciplinary Applied Geochemistry Network
We are seeking up to 8 MSc/PhD students and 2 postdoctoral fellows to join our dynamic and rapidly growing network of leading scientists, industry partners and state-of-the-art analytical laboratories across Canada. The Multidisciplinary Applied Geochemistry Network (MAGNET) is an NSERC-funded industrial stream Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program devoted to environmental, analytical and exploration geochemistry.
We currently have openings (beginning September 2015) for the following research projects:
- The isotopic signal of dacite magmas triggering silicic supervolcanic eruptions
- Volcanologic, geochemical, and isotopic evolution of Medicine Lake volcano, California, USA
- Li isotopes in Cascades volcanoes
- Transitional metal stable isotopes in layered intrusions
- Sources of gas along the San Andreas fault, California, USA
- Isotopic signals of trees fluxed with volcanic gas
- Evaluating the contribution of global, regional and local atmospheric deposition of contaminants using isotopic signatures of inorganic and organic contaminants in Ontario, Canada
- Compound specific isotope analysis for volatile organic contaminants at the groundwater – surface water interface
- Origin, residence times and geochemical signatures of deep crustal fluids
- Radiocarbon as an environmental tracer during energy production and cycling
