Dear Colleagues,
We invite your contributions to session 1658, Plume Ascent and
Dispersion Dynamics: Complex Behavior in Volcanic Eruption Columns, at
the 2014 Fall AGU meeting. Abstracts are due August 6.
Session Description:
Volcanic eruption columns are sensitive to vent and ambient
conditions. The relative contributions of mass eruption rate, momentum
discharge, fragmentation efficiency, local to regional atmospheric
profiles, etc., vary from one eruptive event to the next.
As such, tephra dispersion from these events can also vary
significantly as the clasts are transported in different dynamic
regimes. This session invites contributions examining complex plume
ascent and dispersion dynamics based on field observation, laboratory
experiments, and/or numerical modeling. We particularly encourage
contributions that consider unsteady systems and explicit treatment of
ambient wind.
Sincerely,
Shannon Kobs-Nawotniak (Idaho State University, kobsshan@xxxxxxx)
Kirsten Chojnicki (Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego,kchojnicki@xxxxxxxx)
