Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to a special session for the AGU Fall Meeting Dec 15-19, 2014:

Reducing Vulnerability from Latin American Volcanoes Through Enhanced Monitoring Efforts

Session ID#: 3537

Session Description:
Recent advances in monitoring capabilities for dangerous volcanoes throughout Latin America have provided improved public safety through establishment and enhancement of monitoring networks, determination of baseline parameters for volcanoes of concern and communication of hazards among researchers and to the local populations. Interdisciplinary and inter-institutional cooperation provides enhanced readiness for staff at new and old observatories alike. We invite contributions addressing the advances in monitoring capability, resources, tools and collaborations geared towards mitigation of risk for eruptive activity across the region.

The AGU abstract submission tool is now open.  Abstracts are due no later than August 6, 2014.  Please consider contributing your relevant research to this session.

Sincerely,

Conveners:

Francisco Nunez-Cornu, Univ. de Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta
Charlotte Rowe, Los Alamos National Laboratory, NM U.S.A.
Randy White, U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park, CA, U.S.A.
