Director, Institute for Energy Studies

 

The Institute for Energy Studies at Western Washington University is a quickly growing unit that seeks to educate the leaders for our clean and efficient energy future through interdisciplinary studies and research. The Institute is growing exponentially in terms of student interest, intellectual potential, faculty buy in, private fund raising, etc. We seek a thought leader in the energy realm to act as director and help the Institute grow and achieve its goals. The position is a 1.0 FTE Academic Administrator position with a concurrent faculty appointment of open rank. The position begins on September 16, 2014. 

The director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the institute's programs and execution of its mission. It is the responsibility of the director to develop and maintain high quality research and academic programs, provide support and feedback to institute faculty, oversee institute staff, supervise the operation of institute facilities, and ensure the responsible accounting of funds. The director provides strategic leadership by initiating new directions and helping to secure internal and external support.
