**New extended closing date for Chancellor's Fellowships Feb 28th, 2014, 17:00 GMT**
Announcement of Chancellor's Fellowships at the University of Edinburgh
Building on the success of our previous Chancellor’s Fellowship recruitment programmes over the last two years and given our continuing strong performance, the University of Edinburgh intends to appoint up to 50 tenure-track Chancellor’s Fellowships across the University’s 22 Schools as a further major investment in the future of our teaching and research. These prestigious awards are aimed at early independent research career individuals of the highest potential who have begun to establish a reputation for the quality of their research at the forefront of their discipline, and who have a commitment to teaching and student support at university level. The awards are tenure track and for five years in the first instance. Subject to satisfactory review at the end of year 3, the Fellows will then move to a standard University academic open-ended contract. It is anticipated that most appointees will be successful in obtaining an open ended contract. Successful applicants will normally be appointed at Grade 8 having completed their PhD and acquired equivalent relevant postdoctoral experience which meets the University Grade 8 Academic Job Profile. Exceptionally, an appointment at Grade 9 may be made for someone with extensive experience of research leadership.
We welcome outstanding candidates in any area of the School of Geoscience research and teaching portfolio, but some strategic areas, which may be relevant to the readership of this listserve, have also been identified.
