The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in Physical Volcanology and Geodynamics. The successful candidate will join on-going projects focused on lava flow emplacement, rheology and flow of multi-phase materials, and magma conduit processes, as well as gain experience in writing proposals and developing a new research program. The candidate will join a large and growing Seismology, Geology & Tectonophysics division. The position is a one-year appointment, with the opportunity of continuation depending on progress and availability of funding.

Requirements:
Ph.D. in geophysics, physics, computer science or a related discipline is required.
Experience in numerical modeling of geodynamic processes, a good understanding of fluid mechanics and rheology and programming experience are highly desired.
