Dear colleagues,

Please consider submitting an abstract to our session (deadline: August 6th) on mechanisms of magma ascent and emplacement at the AGU Fall Meeting 2013.
We encourage contributions from field studies, geophysics and geodesy, analytical, experimental or numerical models that may help to better constrain any of these processes, in any magmatic system, at any scale.

V025. Mechanisms of magma ascent and emplacement
Description:
Magma rises through the lithosphere and stalls, forming reservoirs that may eventually feed eruptions. The mechanisms by which magma travels to the reservoirs are poorly understood.

Major knowledge gaps include:
- The conditions controlling the propagation and arrest of dikes, sills and cone sheets;
- The factors influencing the growth and evolution of magmatic reservoirs;
- The processes leading to reservoir unrest.

Invited speakers:
Kathy Cashman (University of Bristol, Bristol)
Craig Magee (Imperial College, London)
Christian Huber (Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta)
Eric Grosfils (Pomona College, Claremont)

With apologies for cross-postings,

Benoit Taisne, Valerio Acocella, Guillaume Carazzo and I
