We would like to draw your attention to a special joint EGU-AGU session at this year's AGU meeting (December 9 – 13, 2013). The session title and description are at the end of this email, along with a link to the corresponding website.

Abstracts are due August 6, 2013.  Please consider submitting your latest work to this interesting and cross-disciplinary session.

Thank you,

V021. Investigating volcanic conduits and related processes through experiments, numerical modelling and observations

Description:

As magma travels to the surface, processes as vesiculation, crystallization, degassing and fragmentation modulate its ascent and coupling with the magmatic pathway. Understanding the details of these physical processes and their effects on the large-scale volcanic system are of paramount importance for improving eruption forecasting and mitigating volcanic risk. We invite studies that integrate observations at various scales (micro-scale sample analysis, volcano seismology and deformation, gas emissions) with laboratory experiments (degassing, crystallization, rheology, fluid flow) and numerical modelling (magma vesiculation, conduit models, volcano deformation).
